Cycle training holiday courses – places available!

Press releases - 11 July 2007

Shropshire County Council’s road safety section is inviting young Shropshire cyclists to take part in their Cycle Training Awareness Scheme this summer.

The two holiday courses, to be held at The Priory School in Shrewsbury, offer an opportunity for children aged nine years and above to practice safe cycle skills.

Both courses will be held from 10am to 12 noon Monday to Friday. Course one starts on Monday 23 July and course two starts on Monday 30 July.

The cycle team have been travelling the county to train pupils at their own schools but unfortunately they are unable to reach every school. By attending the holiday course children do not miss out on valuable training.

Steve Chadwick, Shropshire County Council’s senior road safety officer, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young cyclists to do something interesting and learn new skills during their summer holidays.”

For further information or to apply to attend, people can phone the Road Safety team on 01743 253260.
