Excellent inspection report for adults with learning disabilities service

A Shropshire social care service is celebrating a glowing report from the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI).

Shropshire County Council’s Community Living Team was inspected during the end of last year. The team provide support for people with learning disabilities which enable them to live independently in ordinary housing, within their local community.

Its assessment was praising in its summary of the domiciliary care service achievements, saying that, ‘The management and the staff team do a good job and make sure that the people who receive a service lead full and active lives as independently as possible and with all of the support that they need'.

The CSCI inspection reviewed key standards in the areas of personal care, protection, user focused services, managers and staff, organisation and running of the business.

The CSCI Inspectors described seven out of the 11 key standards as ‘Excellent’ and four as ‘Good’.

Councillor Barbara Craig, Cabinet member for community services is delighted with the CSCI findings and said: “This is excellent news, once again we've demonstrated that we are improving services for people in Shropshire. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Community Living Team for their continuous hard work and commitment in providing high quality services and improving outcomes for those who need our help and support.”

This is a major achievement for the Community Living Team. They have worked extremely hard to continue to raise the standards of this service and an overall rating of Excellent is just reward.”
