Press release - 18 June 2007
This week the children from Ludlow schools will have the chance to display their work produced as part of a young people’s alcohol partnership project. Throughout June, the project has been working with Year 6 pupils at St Laurence’s Church of England Primary School and Ludlow Junior School.
The project was established with the aim of increasing the awareness of alcohol issues and to reduce the harmful effects of alcohol misuse among young people across the county.
Ella Bolt, Headteacher at Ludlow Junior School said; "The children have responded really well to this information and have discussed these issues with great maturity."
Gavin Hogarth, the alcohol partnership project co-ordinator said: “I’m really pleased by how well this project has been received in Ludlow, the pupils have produced some excellent resources which I cant wait to share with others on Wednesday."
Pupils have produced posters and games to educate others about alcohol as part of workshops run by the Shropshire County Council’s Young People’s Substance Misuse team. This project is a pilot and will be rolled out across the county following the success of the project in Ludlow.
The pupils work will be displayed on Wednesday 20 June, 6.30pm – 7.30pm at Ludlow Assembly Rooms.
