Households in Shropshire are being urged to avoid the cost of growing fuel bills by keeping Shropshire Warm.

Keep Shropshire Warm is supported by Shropshire County Council and provides homeowners and private tenants receiving benefits with free cavity wall and loft insulation. Free insulation is also offered to people over the age of 70. Households that do not qualify for the free measures are offered large discounts with up to £250 off the cost of insulation.

With fuel prices such as gas rising by almost 15% (50% higher than a year ago, and electricity 61% higher than last year), managers of Keep Shropshire Warm say now is the ideal time to improve home insulation levels to ensure fuel bill savings and a more comfortable home through the winter months.

Keep Shropshire Warm aims to help people by offering these affordable deals on insulation.

Steve Winmill, Officer for Keep Shropshire Warm, said: “An energy inefficient home means that many households in Shropshire are paying over £200 too much to heat their homes every year.

“Keep Shropshire Warm can offer something for everyone, regardless of their circumstances, to help reduce that excess cost. We have the best deals on insulation and can offer free advice on how to reduce peoples energy bills further.

"We would now urge people to contact us so we can start to improve the energy efficiency of their home and save them money.”
