From 1 April 2008 the cost of a return ticket on the Shrewsbury Park & Ride services will be £1.20.
The fare, to rise by 20p, reflects the increasing costs of providing this service. It is the first increase in over three years, despite the continually growing costs over the last few years.
In addition to this fare increase, a number of other fares and season tickets will also see a minimal increase in price.
Jon Hayes, Shropshire County Council’s principal officer for passenger transport, said: “Despite this price increase, Park & Ride continues to demonstrate excellent value for money when compared to parking in the town and other Park & Ride schemes across the country.
“The service provides a stress free alternative to parking in the town and helps to reduce congestion and alleviate the environmental impact of stationary traffic and congestion. The buses operate every 10 minutes and travel directly into the town centre giving unrivalled access to all the shops and other services and facilities.
“In partnership with Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council and the service operator Arriva, we are committed to providing an excellent service for regular users and visitors to the town.”
