Pupils, staff, and governors of eight Shropshire schools came together this week to view presentations of work produced by all of the schools working on Shropshire Children’s Fund anti-bullying project over the last year.

This is the second year of a two year project and each school has either reached the National Healthy Schools standard or is working towards this standard in 2008. The focus of this work is the emotional health and well-being of the children, in particular, support for anti-bullying.

Ann Hartley Cabinet member for Children's Services said: “This is a wonderful achievement for all of the schools and pupils involved. Young people have been the driving force behind this initiative and the presentations will give them the chance to showcase what they have been doing in primary and secondary schools in Shropshire.”

She added: “Bullying in any form is not acceptable and Shropshire County Council in partnership with other Children's Trust agencies, schools and young people have been working hard to reduce the harmful effects of bullying.”

The event will include a presentation by each school which will be presented by the pupils on the 17 March at Shirehall.

The Schools involved are:

- Coleham Primary School
- Holy Cross CE Junior School
- Springfield Infant School
- William Brookes School
- Gobowen Primary School
- St Lawrence CE Primary School Ludlow
- The Marches School and Technology College
- Ludlow Junior School
