Oswestry childcare champions appointed

Shropshire County Council’s Oswestry area Children’s Centre have appointed three new childcare champions to promote the value of childcare in Oswestry.

The aim of the project is to communicate positive messages about the benefits of childcare, including information around how to access childcare and advice about financial support for parents who wish to return to work after having children.

The new childcare champions are all parent volunteers who have experienced accessing childcare themselves. They have all been trained to support and give impartial advice to parents and carers who may be looking for childcare.

Carol Tiddy, Acting Director of Children and Young People’s Services said: “This is a wonderful initiative. The appointment of parents who have already had the experience of accessing childcare means they can help others who need some extra support.”

For further information on contacting a childcare champion or to become one please call Tina Dyke on 01691 656513 or 668944.
