Businesses join the great debate

Building upon the considerable success of last year’s inaugural Business Summit, Shropshire County Council have invited business leaders to come together again to debate the key issues affecting the county’s economy.

The summit, to be held on 1 May 2008 at Shrewsbury Town Football Club, will include a presentation from Geoffrey Davies OBE, a leading Shropshire businessman who champions rural rejuvenation.

Carolyn Downs, Shropshire County Council’s chief executive will host the event. She said: “The success of last year’s summit was in the range of views and ideas which came forward from all parts of the business community before, during and after the event. We hope that this year’s summit will be even more successful in engaging businesses of all sizes and points of view.

“This is a fantastic chance for county businesses to have a real dialogue on how we can improve our economy.”

Business people wishing to attend should contact Sam Hine, Shropshire County Council’s acting head of economic regeneration, on (01743) 252533 or e-mail businessvision@shropshire.gov.uk.
