Sure Start Fun Day in Oswestry

Press release - 11 June 2007

A ‘Fun Day in the Park’ for families with children under five will take place at Oswestry’s Cae Glas Park this Friday 15 June, from 10am to 2pm. The Fun Day is being held to mark National Sure Start Month and Sure Start Oswestry’s fifth anniversary.

Everyone with young children is welcome to come along and enjoy lots of fun activities on this special day, which will be hosted, as last year, by Clive the popular story-teller. Events in the park will include donkey rides, a bouncy castle, face painting, choirs and dancers from local schools, Master Composters with live worms, and more.

Ann Hartley, Shropshire County Council's Cabinet Member for children’s services said: “This is a wonderful event for both children and their families. Sure Start has contributed a great deal to the community in the last five years and it’s a great pleasure to be able to celebrate their achievements at this event.”

There will be a chance to see the local heritage banners created by Oswestry Qube on behalf of Sure Start, made in collaboration with parents and children who attend the family centres.

There will also be different organisations on hand offering information and support to parents who may require answers to questions, including the chance to meet childminders from the local area.
