New headteachers at Shropshire schools

Fifteen new headteachers are to take up their positions in Shropshire schools at the start of next term.

The new headteachers, listed by area and school, are:

North Shropshire

- Lakelands School, Sports & Language College, Ellesmere - Ian Sanders, who moves to Shropshire to replace outgoing headteacher Ryan Jervis.

- Sir John Talbot’s Technology College, Whitchurch - Malcolm Roddy, who was Deputy Headteacher at Meole Brace School Science College in Shrewsbury, and replaces acting headteacher Pamela Chapman.

- Whitchurch CE (Controlled) Junior School - Matthew Copping, who transfers from West Felton CE (Controlled) Primary School to replace David Swift, who has moved to Staffordshire.

- Criftins CE (Controlled) Primary School, Ellesmere - John Roberts, who has been promoted within the school and replaces Ann Leach, who has retired.

Oswestry area

- Maesbury Primary School, Oswestry - Mrs Rosemary Finney, who was acting headteacher at the school.

- Beech Grove CE (Controlled) Junior School, Oswestry – Nicholas Turner, who moves to Shropshire to replace John Demmerling, who has transferred to Shropshire County Council’s Schools Advisory Service.

- West Felton CE (Controlled) Primary School, Oswestry – Mr A Parkhurst, who has been seconded from Weston Lullingfields CE (Controlled) Primary School to work as acting headteacher until 31 December 2007.

South Shropshire

- Ludlow Junior School - Sally Swann, who steps up from Assistant Headteacher to replace Ella Bolt, who has retired.

- Cleobury Mortimer Primary School - Mrs Bavita Williams, who was Headteacher at Morville CE Primary School, Bridgnorth and replaces Nigel Hubbold, who has retired.

- Rushbury CE Primary School - Andrew Spreadborough, who was Deputy Headteacher at Brown Clee CE Primary School and replaces Virginia Clements, who has retired.

- St George’s CE School, Clun - Heather Smith, who was Deputy Headteacher at Trinity CE Primary School, Ford and replaces Mrs Dee Snape, who has retired.

- Ludlow Infant School - Mrs Val Matthews, who is moving to Shropshire to replace Anne Weller, who has taken early retirement.

Shrewsbury area

- Sundorne Infant School - Alan Derry, who is moving to Shropshire.

- Weston Lullingfields CE (Controlled) Primary School – Mrs E White, who has been seconded from Whitchurch CE (Controlled) Junior School and will be acting headteacher until the end of December.

Bridgnorth area

- Morville CE Primary School, Bridgnorth - Helen Heaton Cooper, who moves to Shropshire and will be Acting Headteacher until 31 August 2008.

Liz Nicholson, Corporate Director for Children & Young People’s Services with Shropshire County Council, said: “I congratulate all of our new headteachers on their appointments and wish them every success in their new positions. I would also like to pay tribute to all of the outgoing headteachers, thank them for their hard work and wish them every success for the future.”
