Repairs needed for Higgins Bridge

Higgins Bridge will be closed for 12 days (Monday 28 January until Friday 8 February) to allow for essential repairs to be carried out to its western parapet.

The bridge, which carries the unclassified road between Bedstone and Bucknell over a stream, was damaged by vehicular impact and several stones have been loosened or damaged.

For these repair works to be carried out safely, the road will need to be closed for the duration of these works.

When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted between Bedstone and Bucknell via the B4367.

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout.

John Williams, Shropshire County Council’s Principal Bridge Engineer, said: “It is appreciated that the road closure will cause inconvenience, however we hope that people will understand that these repairs are necessary for safety reasons”.
