As a Shropshire Graduate, you will have an expansive network of support including:
- a graduate manager
- a placement manager
- a mentor
- a buddy from the recent graduate cohort
- other senior managers who take a close interest in your progress and development.
You will also have the support of your fellow graduate trainees, enabling you to have a shared experience of progressing into the top talent of Shropshire Council.
You can also join the Young Professionals group, which is a forum that aims to facilitate networking opportunities for ambitious, motivated and driven individuals across the organisation.
This is what Philip Brough, Graduate 2011 had to say about the support and mentoring they have received:
"I have regular meetings with my mentor who is a senior manager in the organisation. As well as discussing my personal and professional development, this has given me a great opportunity to gain insight into the strategic direction of the organisation.
In addition to this, you are given a ‘buddy’ from the previous graduate cohorts who have been through similar experiences and are able to help you to deal with the challenges you face.
There are regular one-to-one meetings with the graduate manager and graduate group sessions also provided time to evaluate the skills we have acquired and identify further areas for development.
ShropGrads actively encourages and supports you to look at the bigger picture, promoting opportunities for you and helps you develop a network of useful
contacts, as well as taking advantage of any learning opportunities that arise."
