Get into local history with the help of the Craven Arms and District Local History Group. Volunteers from the group man the Local History Centre and organise a series of talks and visits throughout the year.
The Craven Arms and District Local History Centre is based at the library. Volunteers from the Local History Group are available every Friday from 10am to 1pm to offer advice and answer questions about the local area and researching family history. No need to book, just drop in. Microfiche of parish registers, a selection of parish tithe maps, a selection of census records, and copies of other interesting documents related to the area are available. Our reference collection is also being enhanced with the addition of more books about the community.
Area residents past and present are encouraged to share memorabilia and local information with the group, which can either be returned or stored in the archives. We are especially interested in more memorabilia, newspaper cuttings and old photographs from sports clubs, WI's, societies and weddings.
