Action for Sustainability
New for 2013
Carry out a Sustainability Review to assess just how environmentally sound our building is. Explore renewable energy technologies through hands-on experimentation. Assess the impact of these technologies on the local landscape. Take a pledge to make your own lifestyle more sustainable.
Availability: All year
Maximum group size: 90 children
Price: £75 per group of up to 25 children, £100 per group of 26-33 (or one class, whichever number is larger), £150 per group of 36-50, £200 per group of 51-90
Time needed: an absolute minimum of 3 1/2 hours is needed on site for this activity.
Rocks and Soils
Take a GPS-led walk visiting different rocks and, using hands-on activities, learn about Shropshire's geological history. Get your hands dirty doing a soil investigation.

Home Sweet Home
Become an estate agent for the day and examine trends in the mini-beast housing market.
Either match larger animals with their ideal homes, making judgements based upon their needs, or investigate where invertebrates like to live in the pond.

Dinner Time
Whether prey, predator or producer, our Food Chain games provide fun for all participants.
Discover a new underwater world while pond dipping, or use forensic evidence to find out what owls eat!

Pond vs Meadow
Compare and contrast invertebrates found in pond and meadow habitats, while investigating either classification or adaptation.

Cost: £100 for groups of up to 35, £200 for groups of 36 to 54.
Secret Hills Exhibition
Take a fascinating journey through Shropshire's past: meet a mammoth, explore an Iron Age roundhouse and take off with our film panorama that drifts across the local landscape like a hot air balloon. Focus tasks will also challenge the children during their time in the exhibition.
Free to any school booking a led activity, otherwise £2.75 per child aged 5 or over; 1 adult to every 10 children free of charge, additional adults £3.25.
Prices
The standard price structure for the led activities is:
- 25 children or fewer – £75
- 26 to 35 children (or one class, whichever number is larger) – £100
- 36 to 50 children – £150
- 51 to 70 children – £200
