The Board

The Board who are guiding the development of the VCS Assembly, have met regularly since their formation in June 07. Minutes and papers from the last meeting (4 December 08) can be viewed in the publications area of this page.

Because the Assembly is forming at a time of change within the county of Shropshire, The Assembly Board formed a number of focused Task and Finish Groups to address the way that the forming Assembly can interact best with statutory partners over the Shropshire Council Development and the Local Area Agreement (LAA)

The Task and Finish Groups currently operating are:

-Governance - Exploring the governance of the Assembly
-Funding - Working group exploring the funding issues of the VCS in Shropshire, in particular relating to future funding for Full Cost Recovery over time, contracts and procurement.

The Assembly Board have been asked to nominate a representative to attend the Council Stakeholder Meetings chaired by the Chief Exec of Shropshire County Council. A representative from the Interim Board will be taking the views of the Assembly forward to those meetings and bringing back a report from the meeting which will be included in the Minutes.

A Board has been in place until January 2009 when the full Board will take over having nominated its membership from the Forums of Interest which are currently forming. The Chair of the Board is Julia Baron from Community Council of Shropshire. These Forums of Interest will be the collective voice of voluntary and community sector organisations under names which reflect the activity they deliver or the client group they support. e.g.

Health & Social Care Forum
Children's Summit
Mental Health Forum
Shropshire INfrastructure Partnership (The CVS's and other infrastructure organisations operating in the county)
Visual Impairment Forum
Community Based Transport
VCS Training Consortium

Additional Forum are considering forming around:

Disability (physical and learning)
Waste Recycling and Low Carbon
Information Advice & Advocacy
Interfaith Forum
