The facts and figures on this page relate to adult social care services.
- there were 10,790 referrals for adults and older people.
- 5,928 assessments of adults and older people were carried out
- 11,165 adults and older people received services during the year at 31 March 2006
- 7886 older people were helped to live at home (at 31/03/06) maintaining their independence.
- 1272 people over 65 were supported in permanent residential or nursing care as at 31 March 2006
- admissions to residential/nursing care are made only when it is not possible to support people in their own homes. When it was the most suitable option, people were allocated a single room, wherever possible.
- 10,677 adults and older people received a review of their services to ensure that they were still meeting the individuals’ care needs.
- over 94% of older people’s services started within four weeks of assessment.
- over 100% of people receiving a service during the year, received a copy of their Care Plan

- £1.5million extra benefit was brought into the county as a result of fairer charging benefits advice.
- single point of contact for training established via a local 'topss' co-ordinator.
- partners in community training (topss sub-regional structure) was established.
- the Better Care Higher Standards Charter was updated in partnership with Shropshire Primary Care Trust and the District Housing Authorities.
- the annual 'Mapping the Market' survey of residential and nursing care was completed on time.
- 100% of staff in Social Care and Health received a performance review
