Meet the Team
The Sport and Recreation Service consists of the Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Sports and Physical Activity team and the Football Development team.
Based at Shirehall, both teams work closely with the County Sports Partnership, Energize, School Sports Partnerships and the Primary Care Trusts, to implement a high quality delivery system with the aim of increasing participation in sport, Physical Education and active recreation by a least 1% year on year.

Roles & responsibilities:
- Strategic management of the Sport & Recreation Service including financial and human resources.
- The development of competitive sport in partnership with District Councils, National Governing Bodies of Sport, the Education sector and Government agencies.
- Project management, facility development and funding advice to local organisations, schools and voluntary groups.
- Countywide co-ordination of sport through the STW(Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin) 'Get Active' group Shropshire Sports Forum and the Shropshire Schools' Sports & Athletics Association.
- Contributed to the development of Shropshire County Council's and the Children & Young People's Services Directorate's corporate plans, policies and initiatives.
- Development of a strategic plan for sport linked with Education.

- Line manager for the delivery team.
- Delivering systems for recruitment, retention, induction, training, deployment, management, mentoring and reward for all coaches and volunteers.

Roles & responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and support in the setting of local swimming festivals and organisation and co-ordination of local development camps.
- Ensuring inclusion of priority groups and appropriate provision.
- Ensure sports equity and disability provision
- Support swimming clubs in gaining and retaining Swim 21 accreditation.
- To sit on a service-user pre-engagement consultation group & conduct consultations with service users.
- To support with promoting & engaging of potential providers to Active 4Health.

- promoting good practice amongst existing clubs, support for those who are working towards clubmark accreditation.
- work with Shropshire County Netball Association and Shropshire Schools Netball Association to forge better links and relationships.
- advise and assist the Shropshire Netball Development Group in their pursuit of advancing grassroots netball.
