Shropshire Council works with the Shropshire Football Association to promote and develop football in the county. The Football Development Team sits within the Leisure Service to specifically deliver this area of sports development. The Team deals with club development, charter standard, futsal, coaching courses, disability football and girl's and women's football.
The vision of the Football Development Team is simply to ’Create better opportunities for all to participate in football’.
A Football Development Plan exists which is focused upon ‘Start, Stay and Succeed’, and the core business of the Football Development Team focuses upon the following key outcomes:
- increasing participation
- improving levels of performance
- widening access to football
This is achieved through three key areas of work:
- club development
- education development
- workforce devlopment
We endeavour to ensure that all young people have the opportunity to participate in high quality football activity, by developing a countywide network of Charter Standard schools with exit routes to Charter Standard clubs.
Details of the FA's 2010/11 Season Charter Standard Club Programme can be downloaded from the online services and attachments section on this page.
