Sport Makers

Are you aged over 16 and interested in sport?

Have you thought about volunteering?

Then Sport Makers is for you!

Sport Makers is a new national programme which aims to recruit, train and deploy thousands of new volunteers in sport inspired by the legacy of London 2012. In Shropshire, we are looking for energetic and enthusiastic people over the age of 16 to support their local sports clubs and teams in a variety of ways. You don't have to be sporty to get involved! Clubs need administrators, team managers and general support so that they can concentrate on increasing participation in their sport.

What does it involve?

You will need to register your interest (see the link on this page) and attend a free workshop where you will learn about the Olympic and Paralympic values, being part of the London 2012 legacy and what your role as a Sport Maker could involve. As a thank you for attending the workshop you will receive a free Adidas polo shirt and a bag. You will then need to commit to a minimum of 10 hours volunteering which will enable you to make a real difference to sport locally. We will help you identify where that volunteering can take place.

You can make a difference to your local sports club and community by becoming a Sport Maker!

Are you a club looking for help?

Do you need support with a club event, ground staff or even match officials? If you are in need of more volunteers, please contact the team using the details on this page, or take a look at the attachment, which is a step by step guide to how to register as a provider.
