Sport Makers and Sportivate are part of Sport England’s Mass Participation Legacy programme, Places People Play.
Both are linked to London 2012 Olympics and are aimed at getting more people playing and being involved in local sport.
Sport Makers Programme
Sport Makers is a new and exciting programme that will recruit, train and deploy 40,000 new sports volunteers, over the age of 16 years across the UK. Linked to the Legacy Aims of London 2012, the project will match volunteers with opportunities in sports clubs and make the most of all the skills those volunteers have to offer.
Sportivate Programme
Sportivate is a participation programme aimed at encouraging young people between 14 and 25 years of age playing sports that they enjoy or that they’ve never tried before. Sportivate will provide 6 to 8 weeks of coaching in sport, at a club or leisure facility, with the aim of supporting them to continue playing after that.
