What is Local Agenda 21?
Local Agenda 21 provides a framework to imagine the future of our local communities in a positive way, focusing on four key themes to create a more "Sustainable Shropshire":
- a vision for the future
- a programme of sustainable development
- direct involvement of local communities
- a local focus
Local authorities, organisations and communities have been working together to decide what is important to them locally, in terms of quality of life. This has enabled them to draw up an agenda to guide action in line with the principles of sustainable development.
This means making the best use and least waste of all our resources. The challenge is to find ways of doing more - with less - particularly where resources are not endless.
