Places to visit

The mere at Ellesmere

There are so many places to visit in Shropshire, it's difficult to know where to start.

You can experience the splendour of historic buildings like the magnificent Attingham Park near Shrewsbury, enjoy a trip on the Severn Valley Steam Railway, or visit the RAF museum at Cosford.

You can spend a day in the pretty town of Ludlow - made famous by the poems of AE Housman - or take a boat trip on the Meres (lakes) around Ellesmere.

You can soak up the atmosphere of the historic market towns and villages in the county, or visit places of breathtaking beauty like the Shropshire Hills or the historic parklands at Hawkstone.

Other places to visit include Acton Scott Historic Working Farm, Ironbridge Gorge Museum, Telford Steam Railway, Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom and the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre.
