Shropshire Council is responsible for the production and implementation of contingency plans for the protection of animal and human health within Shropshire, and for the provision of enforcement measures and advice in the event of an outbreak or suspected outbreak.

A Generic Disease Plan and specific plans for foot and mouth, avian influenza, rabies and classical swine fever are maintained and updated. We regularly test our plans, with our partners in DEFRA Animal Health so that we are ready if a notifiable disease occurs.
