Passenger transport contacts
What are the qualities of a passenger transport contact?
Passenger transport representatives are interested in promoting and improving their local bus services. They may regularly use the buses themselves or be well connected with people in their area.
Shropshire has a wide network of passenger transport representatives who donate a little of their time to help publicise their local bus services.
Who do passenger transport contacts work for?
Local transport contacts are volunteers, working on behalf of their local community. The county council supports local transport contacts by providing them with free of charge up-to-date information about local services and by involving them when decisions are being made about bus services in their area.
A member of the transport team acts as a single point of contact for local transport representatives.
What do passenger transport contacts do?
Local transport contacts:
- help to publicise and promote bus services locally
- hold up to date information about local transport services
- are consulted whenever local services are changing
- make suggestions about how local bus services could be improved
- report problems with bus stops and bus shelters - such as graffiti or damage
To find out more, or to volunteer to become a passenger transport contact, please inform Passenger Transport Services.
