Why develop a school travel plan?
By developing a travel plan, a school is showing a commitment to a safer, cleaner and more attractive school environment.

Preparing a travel plan also creates excellent curriculum activities in a wide range of subjects including geography or ESD, ICT, PSHD and citizenship.

School travel plans can also contribute to other projects such as Healthy Schools, Safe Schools and Eco-Schools. Attached to this page is a list of the 146 Shropshire schools who have already developed school travel plans.

Follow the links on this page for more information about how to develop a travel plan and the resources that are available. You can also find useful ideas for initiatives to incorporate into your plan and ideas for ways to make walking and cycling to school more fun.

For more information about the award scheme download the attachment on this page which includes details of the scheme including criteria for the awards and the application form for the 2007/08 awards. Details of how to apply for the 2008/09 awards will be added to this page in early 2009. The deadline for applications is 31 March each year.
