Following the introduction of the Education and Inspections Act 2006, all local authorities must produce a sustainable modes of travel to school strategy. This document sets out how Shropshire Council proposes to encourage greater use of healthier and less polluting modes of travel to school. It reviews work already in hand and identifies what still needs to be done.
The strategy includes information on School Travel Plans, the Safer Routes to School programme and school transport including new extended rights to free school transport.
The strategy was first published in 2007 and has been updated in September 2008, August 2009 and August 2010. We will continue to update the strategy annually.
If you would like to comment on the strategy please email transport@shropshire.gov.uk or write to us at the address shown on this page.
