The Community Car Scheme comprises of approximately 40 local schemes, using volunteer drivers who provide transport for people to get to “essential” services such as hospital and doctors’ appointments, dentist, chiropody and banking. Each scheme is run by a volunteer coordinator who is responsible for taking bookings and organising the drivers.
Passengers need to make a contribution towards the driver’s expenses and Shropshire Council also makes a contribution towards these expenses.
Transport is available subject to passengers fulfilling eligibility criteria; further information is available from your local Community Car Coordinator or by contacting the Voluntary Car Coordinator on the contact details listed below. If you are interested in using your local Community Car Scheme please contact the Voluntary Car Coordinator who will be able to provide contact details for your local Coordinator.
If you are interested in registering as a volunteer driver, contact our voluntary car co-ordinator via the contact details on this page or look at the Voluntary Car Service page via the link..
