Shropshire Family Information Service (FIS) provides free information, advice and assistance to parents and carers of children and young people aged 0-19, or those partner agencies supporting them, on all aspects of family life.
The FIS responds to approx 4500 enquiries per annum via a range of different routes. The FIS achieved the nationally recognised Matrix quality standard for the provision of information and is an Early Adopter of the National Association of Family Information Services Quality Scheme, Families First.
This post is being advertised to ensure countywide coverage of information provision through a full complement of staff and to meet the requirements of the Information Duty of the Childcare Act
These posts will involve providing a professional information service within a defined geographical area, and responding to the information needs of parents, carers and partner agencies. It will be essential to link with Multi-Agency Team members, schools and children’s centre and other appropriate agencies to develop professional relationships and undertake joint working. You will be responsible for promoting and facilitating a timetable of outreach events within the local community and providing information direct to service users. You will also contribute to the ongoing development of the service to continue to meet the needs of service users and to make a difference to the lives of children, young people and families.
You will have experience of working in a multi agency environment and developing close links with partners. You will also have experience of providing information and advice in a variety of formats, directly to service users. We are looking for a confident communicator who has experience of using a variety of methods to ensure effective communication with different audiences.
