Shropshire Family Information Service (FIS) provides free information, advice and assistance to parents and carers of children and young people aged 0-19, or those partner agencies supporting them, on all aspects of family life.
The FIS responds to approx 4500 enquiries per annum via a range of different routes. The FIS achieved the nationally recognised Matrix quality standard for the provision of information and is an Early Adopter of the National Association of Family Information Services Quality Scheme, Families First.
This post is being advertised to ensure countywide coverage of information provision through a full complement of staff and to meet the requirements of the Information Duty of the Childcare Act
Shropshire Family Information is seeking to appoint a Senior Information Assistant to an exciting new post in the team. The role of the Senior Information Assistant will be key to supporting the service in meeting the requirements of the Information Duty of the Childcare Act and ensuring the service continues to meet the information needs of families.
The post holder will be key to developing an FIS presence in the local community, through co-ordinated outreach, which targets parents and carers of children and young people aged 0-19 years and for establishing links with Sure Start Children’s Centres staff and members. The post will also oversee the implementation of a Brokerage Service for parents who are having difficulty in accessing childcare or services. The post holder will line manage a team of FIS Information Assistants based across the county and undertake development project work as required.
The successful candidate will have experience of delivering information to parents, establishing links with partners and working in a multi-agency environment. They will also have experience of project work, developing systems and processes and managing a team. We are looking for a confident communicator.
