Materials that can be recycled at the HRCs

The following materials can be recycled at each of the household recycling centres in Shropshire.

• Scrap Metal
• Car oil and car batteries
• Textiles and shoes
• Cans (food and drink)
• Cartons (food and drink)
• Furniture and bric-a-brac
• Cardboard
• Tetra Pak liquid food and drinks cartons
• Fluorescent tubes
• Household batteries

Note 1:
Plastic bottles accepted
PET/PETE such as fizzy drinks, water and beer bottles (Type 1)
HDPE such as plastic milk bottles, and some detergent, bath and shower gel bottles (Type 2)

Not accepted
PVC and PP (polypropylene) - commonly used for vegetable oil and ketchup (Types 3 and 4)
Yoghurt pots or tubs
Plastic bags
Motor oil, pesticide or bleach bottles
Brown beer bottles
Plastic garden furniture

Timber accepted
All soft and hardwoods
Wooden boxes
Floor boards
Off cuts
Plywood
Pallets

Not accepted
Tree off cuts twigs or leaves
Treated timber
Railway sleepers
Medium density fibreboard (MDF)
Doors with cardboard interiors
Doors with glass panels
