You can recycle paper, cans, glass, plastic bottles, plastic bags and textiles at the recycling centre at the Tesco Extra store in Shrewsbury.
Automatic recycling centre
There is also a recycling machine at the store which uses 'reverse vending' technology.
Customers can feed recyclable materials into the machine which uses cutting edge technology like photo-recognition and infra-red scanning to sort the item into the correct underground storage container. It can even differentiate between different colours of glass bottles and jars!
It is hoped that the facility will encourage more people to recycle which will help reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill each year.
