Please read the notes carefully before applying for your household recycling centre entry permit.
1. Permits are required for all commercial-type vehicles – i.e. vehicles designed to carry goods, such as vans and pick-ups, and for all trailers, including horse boxes. Private cars, including estate cars, camper vans and people carriers do not need permits. Permits will not be issued to vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tonnes.
2. If you bring waste to the site in a commercial type vehicle or trailer a permit must be handed to site staff at each visit. Users without a valid permit will be refused permission to tip waste.
3. Permits will only be issued to people living in the Shropshire County Council area. Telford & Wrekin area residents should apply to that Council for permits. If you live outside the area you will not be allowed to bring waste to a Shropshire Waste Partnership site in a trailer or commercial type vehicle. Shropshire Waste Partnership permits are valid at sites provided by Telford & Wrekin Council if nearer to your address.
4. The permit only entitles the named driver to tip or recycle their household and/or garden waste at a Shropshire household waste site. It does not allow trade waste to be tipped under any circumstances. Trade waste includes waste from any business and any waste carried for commercial gain. It is a criminal offence under Section 33 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 for trade waste to be deposited at a household waste site. The maximum penalty on conviction is £20,000 or six months imprisonment, or both.
5. Permits are only valid for the vehicle or trailer described and for the named driver, resident at the specified address. A maximum of 15 permits will be issued per household at any one time. Permits must not be used by other persons or for other vehicles under any circumstances.
6. Permits will normally be issued in batches up to a maximum of 15 if you own the vehicle. Five permits will be issued for hired or borrowed vehicles or trailers.
7. One vehicle and/or a trailer can be included on the permit. Details of the towing vehicle for the trailer must be given. If you own more than one vehicle, permits can be issued for two and you will receive 10 permits for one vehicle and five permits for the other vehicle.
8. Shropshire Waste Partnership reserves the right to cancel permits or amend the operation of the permit scheme at any time.
