What happens to the metal packaging?

They go to Alu-trade, Birmingham to be sorted magnetically. Ferrous metal is sent to various UK steel mills. Aluminium goes to Novelis in Warrington and is melted down to make new metal products from car parts to bicycles or even new drinks cans.

Why recycle cans and metal packaging?

Recycling metal not only helps to keep material out of landfill but its also helping to save energy too. Aluminium recycling uses only 5% of the energy that making it from new would so that's 95% less energy and 95% less greenhouse gas emissions.
