On 3 February 2022, government announced measures to help households with rising energy costs. This included a £150 non-repayable energy bills rebate for most households in England in council tax bands A to D.

The available guidance stipulates that rebates are to commence from April 2022 and will be paid as soon as possible thereafter. Payments must be made by 30 September 2022. There will be some qualifying criteria for receiving the payment, and also some verifications that we'll have to undertake to confirm bank account holders in some circumstances.

We're currently considering how best to administer the scheme, and further guidance is expected from the government.
