The Column Nursery is a small, friendly nursery. 

Main duties

  • To care for and educate the children in a calm and caring atmosphere, by providing a stimulating and safe environment with opportunity for fun.
  • To provide for the physical needs of the children; e.g. changing nappies, clothing, toilet training, feeding, exercise.
  • To build and maintain relationships with parents.
  • To work closely with the team, build and maintain a good working relationship with colleagues, to promote the development and good practices of the nursery. 
  • To offer a child led daily routine, providing equipment and materials to enhance their learning through personal interests.  Plan daily / weekly activities to meet developmental needs.
  • To maintain all required records.
  • To keep the rooms clean, tidy and ready for use. 

Essential requirements

Qualifications: level 2/3 – essential

  • First aid – desirable
  • Food hygiene – desirable
  • Health and safety – desirable
  • Post qualification experience.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Knowledge of child development 0-8yrs,
  • Children’s needs – physical, emotional, social, intellectual
  • Experience working with children 0-8yrs
  • Willingness to attend training and develop self professionally and personally
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • To be able to prioritise, organise, and evaluate routine tasks
  • Ability to plan and implement suitable activities
  • Managing routine activities
  • Observing, assessing  and recording children’s development and plan next steps

This post will require satisfactory references and DBS checks

Pay actual or TBA


Hours to be worked

3 days per week, plus cover if required for holidays/ sickness/ training etc
