Title of scheme

Adderley to County Boundary and south of Woodseaves – speed limits

Description

The A529 between Hinstock and Audlem has been highlighted by the Road Safety Foundation as a section of high concern and therefore attracted funding from the DfT Safer Roads Fund.

Extension of 30mph.
The relocation of the speed limit 30mph terminal signs with associated gateway signing and central island supports the safety countermeasures highlighted in the project and encourages adherence to the speed limit on the northbound approach to Tyrley Bridge on the river Tern after which slow moving traffic, turning traffic and pedestrians in the road can be expected. The combination of measures proposed facilitates and improves safety for pedestrians, vehicular traffic and all road users.

50mph.
The reduction of the speed limit from national speed limit (60mph) on the link between Woodseaves and Market Drayton to 50mph is to highlight the nature of the road and to support the safety countermeasures which are possible within the highway boundary facilitating and improving safety for pedestrians, vehicular traffic and all road users.

An extension of 40mph speed limit south of the County Boundary is proposed to reinforce the appropriate speed of travel on the north bound approach to the bridge and the existing 40mph speed limit, facilitating and improving safety for vehicular traffic and all road users.

Speed reduction from 60mph to 50mph is proposed to reinforce the appropriate speed of travel throughout the route and on the approach to the extended 40mph speed limit near the County Boundary and on the approach to the village of Adderley, facilitating and improving safety for vehicular traffic and all road users.
