Description

This experimental order will improve pedestrian and cyclist safety by making Crowmeole Lane easier to negotiate for non-motorised users.

It will also support active travel choices for journeys to work and exercise in response to the Covic-19 pandemic, and promote the use of sustainable modes of travel with a safe link route for pedestrians and cyclists, for both commuter and leisure purposes. And it will provide connection links to the existing cycle network on Mytton Oak Road and Radbrook Road.

The existing bus service provision will not be impacted.

THE SHROPSHIRE COUNCIL (CROWMEOLE LANE, SHREWSBURY) (EXPERIMENTAL PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES) ORDER 2021

On 17 March 2021 Shropshire Council made an experimental order to

place the following restrictions on Crowmeole Lane, Shrewsbury:

Prohibition of Motor Vehicles – except for Buses and Cycles

Crowmeole Lane     From its junction with Rad Valley Road to its junction with Sandway, in both directions

Residents of 51 Crowmeole Lane will also be exempt from this restriction.

This Order comes into effect on 29 March 2021 and will operate for a period of up to eighteen months. The Council will consider in due course whether its provisions should continue in force indefinitely.
