Maastricht Interview for Problematic Thoughts (3 day training)

Please note: All three dates (25/26/27th November 2024) need to be attended to complete this training.

This will be classroom based, Shirehall

Aims: To train professionals in mental health care in applying a structured approach to understanding problematic thoughts, beliefs and paranoia strategies for helping people manage their experience.

Learning Outcomes

  • Build skills around talking to a person about their experiences in a comprehensive way
  • Gain knowledge of different frames of reference about problematic thoughts, beliefs and paranoia in relation to historical evidence and epidemiological data and be able to discuss these
  • Demonstrate competence in the use of the Maastricht problematic thoughts, beliefs and paranoia interview and recording the experiences of the interviewee
  • As the interviewer, develop an ability to extract information and be an objective listener, suppressing therapeutic ambitions or comment.

Audience: Staff and volunteers supporting adults who experience paranoia and/or unusual beliefs
