Aims to:
Help staff develop their understanding of how to support and work with individuals with a diagnosis of Personality Disorder
Learning outcomes:
- Define what personality disorder is
- Look at common features of personality disorder
- Explore factors that could potentially lead to a person experiencing a personality disorder
- Learn about different clusters and types of personality disorder and review new classifications
- Examine Borderline/Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder in more detail including NICE Guidelines on recognition and management
- Explore the difficulties you may face in working with someone experiencing Borderline/Emotionally Unstable personality disorder
- Understand and challenge the stigma attached to personality disorder and how to manage your own feelings in response to the individual
- Explore treatment approaches

Audience: This course is for staff who have regular contact with adults who have a diagnosis/potential diagnosis of personality disorder.
