Aims to:

Help staff develop their understanding of how to support and work with individuals with a diagnosis of Personality Disorder

Learning outcomes:

• Define what personality disorder is
• Look at common features of personality disorder
• Explore factors that could potentially lead to a person experiencing a personality disorder
• Learn about different clusters and types of personality disorder and review new classifications
• Examine Borderline/Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder in more detail including NICE Guidelines on recognition and management
• Explore the difficulties you may face in working with someone experiencing Borderline/Emotionally Unstable personality disorder
• Understand and challenge the stigma attached to personality disorder and how to manage your own feelings in response to the individual
• Explore treatment approaches

Audience: This course is for staff who have regular contact with adults who have a diagnosis/potential diagnosis of personality disorder.
