Management of Actual or Potential Aggression (MAPA®) Training
The focus of MAPA® training is to ensure that staff gain the essential knowledge, skills and confidence to prevent, decelerate, and de-escalate crisis situations so that restrictive practices can be avoided. The programme will ensure that staff have the necessary skills to manage risk behaviour using a range of MAPA® physical interventions that aim to minimise risk without damaging the professional and supportive relationship they have worked so hard to establish with the individuals in your care.
Further information regarding course content can be found here.
Shropshire Council are licensed to deliver a range of one and two-day MAPA® courses to Adult Health & Social Care provider services within Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. Regrettably, we are unable to provide training to workers outside of these areas.
MAPA® training is provided on the basis of £47 per learner, per day (subject to annual review). We are also able to provide tailored training courses to the specific needs of your organisation on request.
To determine whether MAPA® training is suitable for your service please complete and return a Training Needs Analysis form (TNA). The information that you provide will enable us to determine the appropriate level of training for your service. Once this process has been completed, you will be able to apply for course places using the link on the ‘Apply for a MAPA® course’ page.
