Ellesmere Library staff, volunteers and the Friends of Ellesmere Library group developed and hosted a hugely popular “Down Your Street” exhibition on January 28 focusing on the history of every property in the town’s Scotland Street. 260 people visited the exhibition, and 177 attended the associated talk by local historian Chris Jobson. Ellesmere Town Council’s mayor said, “Congratulations to all those involved in organising this event. It was brilliant… it was so good to see so many interested in our town.”

The exhibition will be on view until the end of February, when all materials will be added to the library’s treasure trove of local history documents preserving Ellesmere’s story.
