Shropshire Libraries supports Mental Health Awareness Week
Shropshire Libraries is working in partnership with Help2Change to provide advice and support during Mental Health Awareness Week 11-16 May. Representatives from MIND, ReThink, Samaritans, Children & Adolescents Mental Health Service, IAPT services, Healthwatch and Trident Reach will offer drop-in help at several libraries. There’s no need to book ahead – simply call in to one of the following branches to find out which organisations are represented there: Shrewsbury, Oswestry, Whitchurch, Market Drayton, Ludlow and Bridgnorth.
In addition, two libraries have scheduled events to highlight the ‘Mindfulness’ theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week. Mindfulness is paying attention to the present moment, without getting stuck in the past or worrying about the future. This can really change the way people manage and react to stressful situations and an ever-expanding body of evidence shows that it really works.
Mindfulness taster sessions will be offered at Shrewsbury Library on Tuesday 12 May and Friday 15 May, while ‘Colour Me Happy!’ with Phill Evans at Oswestry Library will demonstrate the wellbeing benefits of colouring for adults.
