How To Find Us Large

Located on the first floor of the Ludlow Library building, the Museum Resource Centre is open from 9am - 5pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Our public exhibitions, found in the library foyer, on first floor balcony and the lower ground floor, are accessible during library opening times.”

If you're looking to make an enquiry about, or undertake research with, our collections, please contact us via phone or email to book an appointment before your visit. This way we can be better prepared to meet your requirements.

To find out about all the latest happenings at the Museum Resource Centre visit our Facebook page.

Meeting room hire

As well as storage, conservation and display, one of the main functions of the Resource Centre is to provide better opportunities and facilities for those wishing to use the collections. It's possible for groups or individuals to hire our meeting room for events or to display their own art work and for societies to use our education room to study things of local interest.

To find out more about booking these spaces contact the Museum Resource Centre.

Location and access

7-9 Parkway, Ludlow, SY8 2PG.

We're situated adjacent to Galdeford Road Car Park in a purpose built building shared with Ludlow Library and a number of other council services.

Please note that we're separate from Ludlow Museum, which is located in the centre of town in the Buttercross building.

Travel

By road

If you're using a sat-nav, use the postcode SY8 1GT and look for signs for Galdeford Road Car Park, which we're adjacent to.

Coach groups can be dropped off on Corve Street at the bus stop outside the flower shop Florabunda. To reach this drop-off point, approach Ludlow from the south, go through the traffic lights, past Tesco and stop 400 metres up the hill on the left. The entrance to Parkway is alongside Florabunda immediately by the bus stop. Walk along Parkway and you'll see the library building in front of you.

Parking

We're conveniently located adjacent to Galdeford Road Car Park. The car park has two entrances, one off Station Drive and the other off Upper Galdeford. It's a pay and display car park, split into two zones: A (upper) and B (lower). Zone A is nearer the Resource Centre, but more expensive than zone B.

There are 18 disabled spaces in Galdeford Road Car Park, eight of which are located near the entrance to the Resource Centre building. It should be noted that these spaces are in frequent use by customers of all services housed within the building.

Long-term coach parking can be found in the lower zone B area of the car park.

By bus

If you're coming by bus, you'll usually alight in town on the Market Square opposite the Assembly Rooms. From here, either follow signs for the library on foot or catch a local bus loop (Bus 107) to the stop adjacent to the doctor’s surgery on Station Drive. From this bus stop walk up the hill and turn right into the car park. You should be able to see our large red building on the far side of the car park.

By rail

The train station is three minutes’ walk away. From the station, turn left and walk up the hill along Station Drive for about 50 metres. On your right should be Galdeford Road Car Park. Cross the street and enter the car park through the gap in the fence. You should be able to see our large red building on the far side of the car park.

By foot

If you're walking from town follow signs for the library.

Please ignore signs in town pointing to the Museum.

The building

Navigating the building

The entrance to the building is through automatic double doors located at the west side of the building. To get to the Resource Centre head straight on through the foyer area and the lift and stairs are found on the left. When taking the stairs, go up two flights and then turning left you should see the glass doors of the Resource Centre on your right. If you go past the toilets you've gone too far. If you take the lift you'll come out facing the balcony overlooking the foyer. To get to the Resource Centre turn right past the toilets and you'll see our glass doors. On arrival, please press the bell to the left of the doors and the curator welcome you.

Environment

The Resource Centre itself is a fairly quiet facility. However, there are periodic alarm noises of and the door bell ringing. The library and foyer area, through which the resource centre is accessed, can be very busy and noisy, with the coming and going of adults and children.

The corridors and public access rooms of the Resource Centre are wide enough to accommodate wheelchair users and those on crutches. Most rooms are floored with lino, but the corridor is a textured plastic and the office is carpeted. Mobility scooters may struggle with turning circle space within the Resource Centre. Previous visitors on mobility scooters have parked them after entering our section of the building and navigated our hallway and rooms on foot.

We have a disabled toilet within the Resource Centre, as well as lockers for storage of bags and coats. Baby changing facilities can be found in the toilets just outside the Resource Centre doors.

We aim to provide a friendly, accessible environment for all our visitors, If you have any queries about access, or the suitability of the Resource Centre to your needs, please get in touch using the contact details on this page.
