Broseley Neighbourhood Plan

Designation

An application by Broseley Town Council to designate a neighbourhood plan area went out for public consultation from 1 May to 31 May 2018. The application was approved by Shropshire Council's Cabinet on 17 September 2018.

Submission

Shropshire Council received a submission of the draft Broseley Neighbourhood Plan and supporting documents from Broseley Town Council and consulted on these documents in accordance with Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, from 23 July to 17 September 2021.

Examination

In January 2022, Tony Burton CBE BA MPhil (Town Planning) FRIBA FRSA, was appointed as the independent examiner for the plan. He assessed the plan to decide if it met the basic conditions and could proceed to a referendum with modifications.

Referendum

referendum was held on 15 September 2022. The result was 89.22% in favour of Shropshire Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Broseley to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area.

Adoption

At its Council meeting on 15 December 2022, Shropshire Council resolved to ‘make’ the Broseley Neighbourhood Plan.

The ‘making’ of the Plan means the Plan is adopted and now forms part of the statutory development plan for the area.

The adopted plan can be viewed beneath the link and on request at Shropshire Council’s offices at Shirehall, Shrewsbury.
