Suffered a bereavement? Need to talk? If you live in Shropshire and you're struggling with the loss of a friend or a loved one, help is just a phone call away. Just call the Shropshire First Point of Contact team on 0345 678 9028 to speak to a trained advisor who can connect you to a local community offer. This includes support for all ages.

Bereavement by suicide or suspected suicide

The loss of a loved one through sudden unexplained death and suicide is a uniquely devastating circumstance. It can create a particularly complex set of feelings in those left behind and leave us with unanswered questions which are hard to resolve. We can help you find the path to the right support, understanding and recovery.

The suicide bereavement service is available to families, friends, colleagues, and anyone living in Shropshire Telford & Wrekin who feels affected by a suicide.

This service is available for those who are a Shropshire or Telford and Wrekin resident who is struggling with bereavement from suicide. To access this service, it is free and confidential. Call 07483 906788 or email

We will accept referrals from anyone affected by death by suicide or suspected suicide or attempted suicide and feels our service can be of help. You can self-refer by contacting the number above or leaving contact details. Or someone can refer on your behalf if you have consented to this eg GP, Police, or other support services/agencies.

We aim to respond to enquiries and referrals within 72 hours.

These resources have been written for those bereaved by suicide. The resources describe the common grief responses when someone is bereaved by suicide. They also provide contact details of organisations that provide guidance and support. They are free to download. Some provide printed copies free of charge.

Shropshire Telford & Wrekin Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SoBS) Group

Friendly and peer-led support group providing an opportunity for anyone aged 18 or older to talk confidentially with someone else who has been bereaved by suicide, and to know that they're not alone in their experience.
