Veolia hands out £15,000 to community projects across Shropshire

Community groups and Ecological Transformation projects are set to benefit to the tune of £15,000 in Shropshire - thanks to Veolia's Envirogrant scheme. Nineteen projects from across the county have been chosen to receive funding. Projects range from a scheme to build a bird hide to money to help with supporting a children’s garden project. More than 100 separate entries were received from a wide range of schools, community groups, sports clubs and Eco projects. Awards were handed out at a ceremony at Shirehall in Shrewsbury, 8th February.

Recycling bin roll out - Phase 2 closure

01 November 2022

We have closed orders for phase 2 of our recycling bin distribution. Our distributor will start to deliver these from the 7th of November. It is intended that all phase 1 deliveries will be completed before this date. We will publish the Phase 2 list on our website once we have compiled and checked the data. residents can still register to have a recycling bin however we are currently unable to offer this online, but residents can call 0345 678 9007.

Changes to waste collections in south Shropshire from 7 November

07 October 2022

Householders in the former South Shropshire district are being alerted to changes to their waste and recycling collections from next month. From 7 November [2022] changes are to be made to some recycling and waste collection days in the former North Shropshire, South Shropshire and Shrewsbury & Atcham districts/boroughs to make the collection service more efficient, and reduce the distances that the collection lorries need to travel on their rounds.

£15,000 of funding now available to community groups across the county

Veolia UK and Shropshire Council have teamed up to offer £15,000 in funding to the county’s local community groups and clubs.  The first ever EnviroGrant scheme in Shropshire enables clubs or groups to apply for up to £1,000 in funding for projects that benefit the local community or environment. The funding project is one of the many ways that Shropshire Council’s waste contract with Veolia goes to benefit the local community.

To improve your recycling and waste service we’re changing the routes that some of our vehicles follow to offer a more efficient service with a lower carbon footprint. Your collection calendar will be posted out to you in October, please look out for it as it will show if your bin day is changing.
