How to apply

Free activities and food for Shropshire families

Children and young people who are eligible for free school meals and their families will be able to access free activities and food provision during the Easter, summer and Christmas holidays. The Department for Education's (DfE) Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF) has provided funding for the scheme for local voluntary and community organisations and childcare providers.

Two types of grant can be applied for in Shropshire:

Grant type A

For core providers to create childcare places in existing schemes/clubs and also for new places in new schemes/clubs to answer specific community need. Schemes aimed at older children and young people can also be more flexible in terms of delivery to reflect the requirements of the age group. Core holiday activity provision will be expected to meet the requirements of the HAF Programme as laid out in section 3 of the programme guidance, available on this page.

Grant type B

For summer holiday short activities, innovative projects and one-offs that can be delivered in different venues lasting a minimum of an hour per day or more. For the purposes of this grant they will be called 'enrichment activities'. This activity doesn't have to meet the requirements of the HAF Programme as laid out in section 3 of the programme guidance, available on this page.

For further details take a look at our grant application guidance.

Our budget calculation table allows you to show clearly how you've worked out your costs. It can be saved and emailed direct to HAF.programme@shropshire.gov.uk with your organisation’s name and 'Budget Calculation' in the subject line. You'll need to enter 'emailed budget calculation table to HAF.programme' in the appropriate question in the application form. This is given as an option for providers. There's room in the application form to show simple calculations, so this table doesn't have to be used but you may wish to do so.
