Cleaning jobs

We recruit to several different cleaning positions, from cleaning assistants to cleaners in charge to chargehands. This page gives you brief descriptions of the roles available. All mandatory training and full protective uniforms are provided.

This role has responsibility for the day to day management of the cleaning contract within a site. Duties would include: organising and supervising of staff; maintaining staff records, materials and equipment levels and the monitoring of cleaning standards at the site. Health, safety and security will also be essential components of the job.

Cleaning assistant

A cleaning assistant carries out general cleaning duties which include the use of electrical equipment. High standards, safe working practices and a willingness to undergo training are required for this role.

Cleaner in charge

This role is found in primary schools only and adds caretaking and janitorial duties, such as unlocking the school and sweeping the school playground, to those of daily management of the cleaning contract.

Relief and casual posts

Relief staff are employed in each of the roles above, and are usually permanent posts. They would be expected to travel within a certain radius of their home to cover low staffing levels in different locations. Casual staff are employed to work on a temporary basis, often at seasonal times of the year and usually close to their home location.

For all of our positions, candidates are expected to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (the old CRB). Checking of references and an occupational health questionnaire are also carried out as part of our recruitment process.
