The Keystone Academy – Have your say!

25 November 2021 Last updated at 06:01

There is still time to have your say during the consultation period which ends on 29 November.

The Youth Engagement Schools (YES) Trust’s proposal for the opening of The Keystone Academy has progressed to the pre-opening phase and we are now in our public consultation period.

The Keystone Academy will be the latest addition to the YES Trust’s portfolio, which consists of The Axis Academy in Crewe, The Cornerstone Academy in Congleton and The Fermain Academy in Macclesfield.

The Academy will open in September 2022 in a temporary site in Shrewsbury whilst our new school is being constructed on Squinter Pip Way in Bowbrook, Shrewsbury (due to open its doors in September 2023).

The Keystone Academy is a Special Educational Needs school for students with an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for social, emotional and mental health (especially neuro-diverse) needs.  The Academy can cater for 120 students.  Initially it will support students in Years 4 to 9.  Moving forward, the school will support children aged 4 to 16.

The YES Trust would like to hear from the local community in the coming weeks to help inform the decision from the Secretary of State on whether to enter into a Funding Agreement with the Trust.

We would like to hear your comments so that we can offer feedback to ensure The YES Trust and The Keystone Academy are meeting the needs of the communities we serve.  We are passionate about ensuring the best possible outcomes for the vulnerable students we are looking to support and educate.

We will record all views shared with us during the formal consultation period running from Monday 11th October 2021 to Monday 29th November 2021.

We ask that you complete the short questionnaire and return it to admin@thekeystoneacademy.org.

We endeavour to be an asset to the community and offer a cohesive approach to supporting children’s mental health and education.

We would be grateful for your feedback.

Thank you
