Support for 5-16 year olds
We have a statutory duty to provide travel assistance considered necessary to facilitate the child’s or young person’s attendance at school where those pupils are of compulsory school age (5-16).
For pupils aged 5-16 with a statement of SEN or an education, health and care plan (EHCP) or registered disability to qualify for travel assistance, the following must apply:
- Ordinarily residing in the Shropshire Council authoritative area and of compulsory school age (5-16)
- Registered at their nearest or catchment school or designated school
- Can't reasonably be expected to walk to school because of associated health and safety issues relating to their individual special educational needs or disability
Travel assistance won't be considered if a parent carer selects a placement at a school (including special school) which isn't their nearest or catchment school, or designated as appropriate by us.
If your child is attending a mainstream school and you'd like to apply for a school bus pass for your child please visit: https://shropshire.gov.uk/school-transport/
